Hi
If i use my Irish credit card in Ireland to buy a book that is priced in both sterling and euro can i ask to be charged in sterling only??
It would work out much cheaper
I know you can do this on amazon but can i do it in an actual shop
Thanks

You can ask but I don't think that there is any (legal or CC merchant agreement) obligation on the retailer to agree to your request.

The sterling price will reflect UK tax rates, margins and costs. The Euro price will reflect the Irish taxes and costs. This may account for the difference. If it does they will hardly sell it at UK rates in Ireland.

A friend recently tried that for a clothing item in M&S Dundrum, and they accepted!
