Q questionman9 Guest 5 Sep 2008 #1 Just about to close on a house and I’m trying to find out what I need to do in terms of finding out what is covered by the maintenance charge? Does the solicitor deal with this? Solicitor mentioned I'd pay when I went to close? Is this correct?

Its also unsual to have maintenance charge on a house. Generally, annual maintenance covers communal areas, common ground etc, and for flats building insurance. I doubt that building insurance would be provided for a house. Your mangement fee should be considerably less for a house than for a flat.
