Re-installing fireplace/stove

I'm hoping to put in a fireplace or a stove in my living room. I bought the house 3 years ago and the fireplace was boarded up some years previously as far as I'm aware.

I'm not interested in a back boiler or anything like that, just putting a stove in.

Do I just talk to any builder for quotes or do I need to talk to a "specialist" to fully ascertain that the chimney will work again before starting down this road?

As can be seen from these questions, I'm a little (lot) clueless about this, so be gentle.

Great, thanks for that link. Had a look in a couple of places and was quoted €800 for installation plus about €1,500 for the stoves that we liked, all a bit more expensive than I had thought it would be, but will keep looking.
