RE:hotels in frankfurt

Hi am off to Frankfurt shortly and just looing for some advice re hotels. Anyone's I look up are desciribed as being close to the main train station (and also the red light district!!) - has anyone stayed around this area and would be it be safe for 2 women alone. What is near this are ie shops, restaurants etc?
Any advice would be much appreciated

I stayed in one a few years back and it was near the train station, close to where the ryanair bus drops you off, we spent most of our time in the Sachsenhausen (SP?)....the main drinking area which was a short taxi journey away, we encountered no issues in the area to be honest you would not really realise that you were in the red light district as it is legal in Germany and not as open as Amsterdam, we did a bus tour of the city on our last day and reaslised that an eros centre is a brothel we thought it was a shop of some sort and we were staying near one, the area seemed safe to us but then it was 5 lads.
