Re-colour grout

Hi all,

had black tiles put down in the hall of my new apartment a few months back. On the day, we had to use grey grout instead of charcoal which I would have wanted. Didnt like the contrast from the start and a few months down the line, i still dont like it.

So basically im wondering if it is possible to re-colour the grout. have tried grout pens but they look terrible.

had a few other ideas but not sure how feasible they are;
1. Apply a thin layer of charcoal grout over the existing grey grout.
2. Apply a watered down paint to grout. not sure if grout would absorb paint
3. Apply a grout dye. not sure if there is a product like this on the market?

Any help would be appreciated.

when we wanted to change our grout from the grey it had become back to white, we used liquid shoe polish - which you may get in the colour you want. found the grout pens were awful
