Hi there. We're moving to Rathgar from North America (renting near the village initially)with our young family (3,2,1) in September. We are looking for advice on good creches and primary schools (co-ed/RC would be preferable but not essential) within a 10-15min drive from Rathgar. Also, do most schools do after-school care nowadays? We're not from Dublin so any & all advice would be appreciated! Many thanks.

Re. ... 'do most schools offer after-care nowadays?' ... the short answer is no.

In my part of this fair Isle only local creche collects children from the school and keeps them until 6.00 p.m.

St Louis National School in Rathmines is RC and co-ed and is about 10 mins drive from Rathgar Village. I think you will have to rely on a creche pick up service for after school though.

The children might not be primary school age yet but you should definitely get them on the waiting list / entrance list for a school nearby. Schools can fill up their places quickly.
