One sump is considered adequate for an area of up to 200 sq. m. in a standard dwelling of conventional design and construction. This sump should be vented with two pipes, diametrically opposed, terminated at the buildings perimeter, capped and clearly marked to enable identification. Homebond's Home Builder's Manual gives good, clear advice on this and all other aspects of house construction and as a professional working in the industry I would recommend it as essential reading for anyone building in Ireland today.
