Hi all
Am new to this forum, but I see there was a thread a few years back on a quotation for new bathroom installation - think it's closed now. I live in Dublin and I've had a couple of quotes ranging between 3.5K - 5.5K to install a new bathroom and not sure what to make of it all. Also one guy asked to have more than half the money paid in advance which I'm very wary about.
Would really appreciate any advice
Thanks

you don't give dimensions, or we don't know what quality fittings are included, but that is the ballpark price to get somebody in to do the work.

My only advice is to make sure you are happy with the quality of the work you will get, especially the tiling, if you are getting a lot done.

If you think about it, you might be paying 600-1000 for tiles, and the same again or more on suite/shower taps.... so in some respects it is correct that you pay for these.

There are plenty of cases of people not paying suppliers, or complaining about work and fighting over prices etc, after the fact, so the tradesman needs you to show some trust too.

Get your quotes in writing and make sure they are detailed enough.

Hey,

I recently got a bathroom plumbed in after getting my whole heating system changed and i was charged €500 to fit the bathroom that i had bought myself... i was thinking it was a bit pricey myself but there was a couple of pipes to be moved etc.. maybe a plumber or somebody with similar job done can share their costs incured for the same job..

For such a small room, a lot of money can be spent. €3500 would not be excessive if, you need to remove tiles, re-tile, buy new fitting etc.
Labour is the expensive thing. It takes time to tile, refitting toilets, mirrors in new tiles means drilling new holes, moving a radiator etc. We replaced our bathroom this year and was really surprised at how expensive it was.

Thanks everyone. Having spoken to a couple of installers I have a better idea now of what's involved and it's more complicated than I thought. Mulling over the quotes now.

Judging by your quotes Mosclara, was €500 to just get the bathroom installed and a couple of pipes moved seem reasonable??

Im yet to get a tiler in to finish the bathroom. Can anybody advise on what i should be willing to pay to get the tiling job completed if i supply the materials??

Thanks a mil

30 yds of floor and wall tiles with a small mosaic cost me €450. I could have got cheaper but this guy worked for me before and is very good. We are based in the south east
