Cutting a long story very short. Myself n the GF are having probs getting a mortgage(i've a poor credit history from when i was ung n foolish with a credit card).. Anyways is it possible for my dad to go down as an applicant on the mortgage with us and then a few years down the road have him removed???

Don't know if you can do that but maybe he could act as guarantor ? This crowd might be of help to you but I would imagine you will pay for your previous financial indiscretions in the form of higher mortgage rates.

Your arrears shouldn't be a problem, there are two companies now accepting them in Ireland. However they will charge you extra interest. If you want to send me your details i will find out what rate etc you will be charged!

Hello,

Even with your father on the deeds etc your credit history will still cause a problem, however there are are lenders that will look at it, unfortunatly at a cost, however you could take the mortgage out with them, and in a year or two remortgage to another lender at favourable rates, when you have shown ability to repay the mortgage, I can look into it for you, if you like.

You will also have problems with your stamp duty first time buyer status if your dad is on the mortage.
