Quick benefits question

Can someone please just tell me quickly whether my husband will get any money? My husband was made temporarily redundant today ( see other thread). My head is wrecked trying to understand if we will be entitled to any money. I work full time earning 40k approx, and we have one child aged 8. Me and my husband have always worked full time and have well over five years stamps paid each. Am I right that he will get €196 per week for a year, then it is means tested and we will get nothing because of my wages? I know the information is on here, but I'd be grateful if someone with knowledge and experience could give some advice, neither of us have ever had to sign on in our lives ( we are both in our early 40s). I hope it won't come to long term benefits but I like to know what the score is, and my head is in bits!

Many thanks in advance.

All I know is he got a notice of temporary redundancy to take down the dole office on Monday. I think it means his boss thinks that he will have work for them again within a month or so, so they don't get any redundancy yet and have to go and sign on straight away. beyond that I haven't got a clue. He got his weeks wages today and won't get any more until/if he starts work again.

He's on temporary layoff and yes, in twelve months he would be meanstested. Try and be positive and hope it won't come to that! Maybe the 'tempoary layoff' is just that and he will be full-time again soon.
