hi all
After ages searching for a well paid job Ive been offered a position. Im in forestry and environmental consultancy industry. Ive a meeting with the company people next week and it has been made clear to me that I should have lots of questions..........problem is I just want the job and don't really have any questions. Im happy enough with what I know about the company and pay.
Could anyone suggest topics I should explore with employer to sound professional?
Any suggestions would be great.....

You could turn the tables on them...

- So, Mr. Chief Executuve, where do you see yourself in 5 years?
- Do you have any weaknesses?
- Tell me about a situation where you demonstrated good decision making..

Or alternatively you could ask them where the company is going, what new markets it plans to go into. You could talk about the strategy for the company, but always tie back to what you can offer the company. Its not a "clap each other on the back" talk, its always going to be "how can you help us".

Read up on the companies competitors, how can they be taken on?

How will your role progress? You can suggest possibilities to the company, again the company dont want to just pay you for nothing, they want to see that you have ideas and are enthusiastic about trying to improve things. Sounds cliched but its true.

The OP has been offered a job, I dunno how asking the manager what their management style is will in anyway promote the OP and his\her skills.

It sounds like This post will be deleted if not edited to remove bad language licking and small talk.

Hi Killter

If you have already been offered the job, presumably you have gone through an interview process and have asked all the questions you needed at this stage?

The only thing you can achieve with questions is to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Start asking strange questions and they might well withdraw the offer.

In a situation where you have no questions, the best thing to say is "I have got all the information I need at interview thank you very much, so I have no questions. However, I would like to summarise my understanding of the role to make sure I understand it correctly. I will be part of a team reporting to... I will be responsible for... The company is planning to develop into the following areas... If I achieve X & Y, then there should be opportunities for me in around 18 months...".

For me, it helps me decide whether I actually want the job or not.
