Spouse and I have a will made. Our son is the executor and beneficiary. He is in a civil partnership with his girlfriend and they both own a house.
No children.. yet
Spouse posed the following question...
"if son and gf and us were to all die in some tragic unforseen something or other, who would inherit our (spouse and I) assets?"
My reply such as it was me not being a solictor was, that it would depend on our son and his gf's will, that whoever was the beneficiary in THEIR will would inherit our assets.
(If I recall correctly I remember reading/hearing someplace that for the purposes of a will that it would be assumed that the older people died "first" and that our son inherited (however briefly) our assets.
Am I right, or did I just imagine it?
Apologies if this sounds confusing but I was curious about it.
Thanks.
David
