Query re IP address

Hi,

I use McAfee software for virus/internet protection and I can download and protect 3 pcs or laptops with the 3 licences. I only have one laptop, having got rid of a PC. 2 software licences are in use, one for my laptop and one for the dumped PC.

My McAfee account shows the IP addresses for the 2 computers protected and I want to delete the dumped PC one, but I don't know which is which.

When I look up the laptop IP address, it doesn't match any of the 2 IP addresses in my McAfee account.

The laptop IP address last night is different from today, its an IP v4 address and seemingly changes with each shutdown/restart.

How do I know which licence is the right one to deactivate?

Check and see if it is the ip address of the router that it has stored.

It's likely your broadband provider uses dynamic address allocation. Your IP address will change with each session.

That just shows your IP to the outside world, and not the ip of your machine on the router.

run cmd.exe for a dos prompt, type ipconfig /all to get the ip adress of your machine.
