hi guys,

i am looking at the back to work entreprise allowance scheme, i would be eligible for it but i'm just wondering if i am allowed to apply for it with my wife. the business would involve her, i couldn't do it without her in fact, so do i go in as the two of us or just me?

thanks

There's no problem with your wife being involved. Is your wife on your claim already? If so, she can stay on your claim.

If she has her own claim, eg Jobseekers, then she needs to make sure that she continues to meet the criteria of whatever scheme that she is on. Alternatively, she can go onto your claim.

My husband was my dependant when I was on JSA, I then went onto BTWEA. He remained as my dependant and he recently got a job. I told them in the SWO thinking I'd be taken off it but they said that's fine, he can work fulltime and I retain the full allowance. This is great as it now means I can use the BTW allowance for the business and hubbys wages go on living costs. I would have had to fold business in yr 1 if hubby hadn't gotten a job due to finances. If your wife is a dependant, she can get a job if things get tight without affecting your allowance. Talk to the jobs facilitator about the best way to go for you, I found mine to be really nice and helpful!
