Query about signing house over to ex-spouse

Hi there,
I'm posting this for a friend in financial difficulty. She has been seperated for a while and financially things are not good for her. She has a house that she can't afford the mortgage on anymore. She was considering selling it but it's in negative equity so she would still owe money on it. She was also wondering about signing it over to her ex spouse and just making a clean break and renting. If she was to do this does anyone know how much it would cost as I presume she would have to hire a solicitor to do it.

Presuming there are no children involved, if her ex is willing to take over the negative equity and is in a position to get a full mortgage, that is what she should do. Solicitor fees for this would be in the region of 2K I would think.

Like MrDerp, I can't see why the ex would take this deal though.
