Ciarán Maguire's office has been in touch with us and says they are put out about the information appearing on our blog. We have refused to change the content, as we feel it presents a selection of information avenues for those who may not otherwise have access to such information.

We suggested that we put together a series of questions outlining people's misgivings/worries/queries about the project and they have given a commitment to answer these.

We will be going through all the posts on this forum, The Boa Vista Experience and The Property Pin in order to collate a list of relevant questions but, if anyone has any other specific queries they wish to put directly to Ciaran Maguire please feel free to post them here and we will include them on the list.

Overseas Cafe,

I agree with your position. Flash Developments needs to step up their communications and start presenting facts and answers. That is all people ask, plus of course returned deposits which have been requested.

Should you require any assistance from Boavista Experience, then we will endeavour to assist where possible.

Kind Regards

Jason
BoaVista Experience

1. Why does the Flash Development website have an incorrect address and phone no.

2. What has his father's company "Flexi Developments" actually developed since 1988? Apparantly its apartments in the K-club and some part of the Dundrum shopping centre. We need to know exact details.

No answers to the queries put to the Ciaran Maguire Group as yet I'm afraid. We have been in touch with Ciaran's PR who says they're still working on them. That's as far as we've got so far.

We've put all the questions on our blog, if they do eventually answer them we'll put the answers there as well.

We've just had the following comment on the Ciaran Maguire Questions blog:

"Atlantic Casino Consultants are the owners of the design 'Blinkers' and we are still seeking payment for this. We are presently engaged in legal action against the management of 'Blinkers' at City West."

There has been a reply of sorts from the Ciaran Maguire Group, aka Flash Developments. We've put it on the blog for anyone that wants to read it.

Here's Ciaran's Father's company.

[broken link removed]

They are a metalwork contractor ie metal cladding, metal railings, banistors etc.

It certainly would not give me confidence that Ciaran and his Father and the very young team around them would have the experience to pull off a €2.2 billion construction project in Cape Verde never mind run an airline.

This guy and his father have nothing to do with that company. It's run by the sister/daughter. He states that he managed some element of the company that worked on the K Club and Dundrum Shopping Centre. Not a chance!!
I hope people are not gullible enough to fall for this and lose money.

According to the current version of the company web site, http://www.ciaranmaguire.com/home.html, as of 11/1/2009, Ciaran Maguire Airlines are going to operate "direct flights from Dublin, Manchester and London directly to Boa Vista." and that "To date two Boeing's [sic] 737's have been acquired" ... "with the initial destination being Cape Verde"

But the same website page shows an altered picture of a Boeing 747. Any number of property websites (apparently fed by identical press releases, with many in Russian) also refer to "Boeing 747's." There is even one of those scanned articles stored on the same company website (under press clippings) from the Sunday Business Post 26 October 2008 clip ID 219288, which also refers to 747's.

Would Ciaran Maguire Airlines care to clarify which model of aeroplane they have acquired?

As an ex plane-spotter I can assure you that a 747 and a 737 are quite different.

Maybe they should count the number of engines very carefully before signing any contract.

Have they checked whether Boa Vista (even after extension) can accomodate a 747 in time.
The data I've seen leads me to believe 757-200 or 767-200 will be about the maximum.

But perhaps this is all just a simple misunderstanding that could be cleared up in no time.

Mr. Maguire has decided to assuage all our fears. The following was posted on the [broken link removed] website last Friday.

Flash Developments would like to issue a formal statement.

While we recognise and acknowledge the frustrations in relation to the current delays, we would like to point out that these delays are out of our control and unfortunately are common in Cape Verde. However we have the best people on the ground working on our behalf to speed up the process and we have been given the assurances that by the end of this quarter we will have all the relevant documentation in place allowing us to commence construction by the end of the second quarter 2009.

It has always been the priority of Flash Developments to ensure all our clients have been regularly contacted by our staff and kept fully informed and up to date on the developments of the Palm View Resort. We are delighted to announce that we have chartered a 180 seater aircraft for a complimentary all inclusive inspection trip to Boa Vista on the 24th – 26th of April for our existing clients and new clients as well as their legal representatives. On this visit our clients and the their lawyers will get an opportunity to speak directly to Cape Verdian officials and planning authorities while also having the opportunity to sit back relax and experience a taste of what the Palm View Resort will have to offer.

It is our belief that some of the comments posted so far have been irresponsible and unjustified. We are confident in the knowledge that you will not find any other developer any where in the world that would out lay in excess of €300,000 for a complimentary inspection trip if they were not 100% certain and confident of delivering on their promise. Our promise to our clients is to deliver an unrivaled world class Resort and to ensure that their investment in Palm View continues to be a smart and secure one.

We would welcome the opportunity to answer more specific questions directly. Please feel free to contact our office at any time and our staff will be more than happy to answer any of your questions. You can also contact our office if you would like to attend our inspection trip, allowing you to speak directly to the relevant Cape Verdian Authorities which will give you the opportunity to make a truly informed decision rather than listening to “hearsay” posted on forums.

I'm not sure which contact they want to be used but this is the site for [broken link removed] and this is the one for Palm View Resorts. Neither is exactly brimming with info.

This whole thing is getting ridiculous and it's hard to believe that in this climate anybody would be foolish enough to put money into this scheme.

I got an e-mail recently from them launching their new brochure. just a storyboard of pictures and general blurb.
