Quality of Pampers in Jumbo box V Regular pack

Here's a question for all you parents out there. Has anyone noticed a difference in quality between the nappies in the Jumbo box compared with the quality of the ones in the regular pack. We always take advantage of the jumbo box deals but today Mrs. Coldcake drew my attention to the fact that the nappies in the jumbo box seemed to have less absorbent material than the regular ones and just felt a little more skimpy. This would mean that you would end up using the ones in the jumbo box quicker and therefore may not be the bargain they seem. This could be just our imagination but we did a Pepsi like challenge and I was able to pick out the jumbo box nappy. (I hasten to add I didn't taste the nappy, just felt it). Just interested to see if other people have noticed a difference.
 
Yes I've noticed a difference. Some of the fastenings aren't folded correctly and I have had to throw out at least 3 nappies from a pack.

On contacting Pampers they maintain that they are not of a lesser quality and that compression occurs when they are packed into the box etc, etc. Perhaps it would make sense for a number of people to contact the company as a group rather than individuals?
 
Yes - its going back about 5 years but I def remember having this issue. I called the helpline and discussed with them. They were very well equipped to deal with the query - had all the answers as with GreenQueen and as far as I can recall placated me with generous vouchers.
 
Yes, Me too! Had problems with velcro type fastening things.. they wouldn't fasten on most of the nappies.. I complained to Pampers and not the shop where I bought them and they sent me vouchers.
 
I often think that the quality of an item when it is on special offer is not of the same quality as the item when it is not on special offer. Watered down orange juice. More liquid than beans in the tin. Cornflakes not as crispy. More rice than prawns.....etc
 
I have had the same experience - I too, bought in bulk when I see the jumbo boxes but have found that the nappies ALWAYS burst overnight with the delightful gel & contents going everywhere! I was contemplating switching from Pampers altogether until I spoke with another parent who recommended the Active Fit nappies instead. However, I NEVER had a problem with exploding nappies until I started buying the special offer boxes. I have switched to Active Fit now and they no longer explode but I don't get them in the boxes. So, I do think that they use inferior quality nappies in the boxes.
 
have to say, we usually buy in bulk and see no noticeable difference, smallie doesn't seem to complain either. Never had an exploding nappie or any issue what so ever
 
We use the Lidl nappies as we never found Pampers, or other brands to be that good (packs or boxes). The Lidl ones are at least as good if not better, and cheaper to boot.
