Hi Folks,
Thinking of heading to Clonakity with family this weekend. Cannot get
Silversprings booked out. We would have preferred to stay near the city in the sense best of both worlds and at least for eating out there was a few places we could have brought the kids with us. We want somewhere with Leisure Centre so we are thinking Quality HOtel in Clonakilty. Any of ever stayed if so whats the verdict and can you recommend somewhere nice for food Sat evening a meal out for 4 Adults and 2 children.
Thanks

Clonakilty is an excellent place. The hotel is great. Cinema right beside it. Nice walk to town. Plenty of lovely places to eat. Would not just pick one as each one offers something unique

It's a few years since we were there but we still talk about An Sugan - it's a pub that specialises in seafood - superb.

Clon is great but there is a better choice of places to eat in Kinsale so why not try Actons.

Clonakilty is a great place to bring kids, An Sugan is probably a bit expensive when you factor in kids but there are loads of different places from one end of the town to the other, a fantastic playground also at the back of the town and one of the best Spar supermarkets I have ever been in, it's also at the back of the town down near the harbour. You'll love it and never go anywhere else once you've been there, Clonakilty I mean, not Spar.

Ane where exactly is the harbour. I have tried to find it but failed.

It is called Clonakilty Harbour, in reality it is the bay area. There is a very good map and info on Clonakilty at www.clon.ie, well worth checking out to get an idea of the layout of the town, in particular the section 'Historical walk around Clonakilty' gives a great tour of the whole town and has a section devoted to Clonakilty Harbour.
