PVC door - known to warp?

I had a PVC hall door installed around 3-4 years ago and I have always had issues with it. It used to be that the door would be very easy to close in the mornings (sun shines at the door in the mornings) and then at in the evening it would need to be push closed with a bit of force. I thought this just needed a bit of adjustment to the hinges and this did help. Because of the problem with the closing I just presumed that the other problem of wind whistleing at the door was related. I had the installer back before the winter and he made adjustments to the hinges which did make a big difference to how the door closes. While he was doing this we both gave the door a good look over and at this point we coud see that the door is slightly curved in that the top and bottom of the door close against the frame before the middle part. Although the door closes and locks, the seal against the fram is non-existent in the middle two thirds of the door. Obviously this weeks weather has highlighted the problem as the wind whistles through and I can feel the air. I can push on the middle of the door from the inside and there must be up to 5mm of a gap to the frame.

Just wondering if anyone out there has had similar problems with PVC doors.

Thanks.

i had a similar problem on a french pvc glass door. Remove it from its hinges and lay it flat on something like a block on either end on a warm day and place something heavy on the warped center bit (i used sandbags) and leave for the day in the sun. This will reverse the warping for you hopefully, it did for me. Unfortunately you'll have to wait a bit longer for that warm day

Yes, and so can the window sashes (openings) and seemingly there are alot of problems with the PVC sliding sash windows with the georgian stick-on bars falling off and the sashes swelling/twisting (a guy selling them told me that).

Where I work, this week alone I had a couple in pricing a hardwood timber door and unit as their 2 year old pvc front door unit has warped, and I had a lady in pricing new windows as her pvc windows twisted in the summer - i'd say something if we had a good summer!

This does not surprise me at all.

Very interesting....I never heard of this happening before so I'm glad to hear that others have had similar issues. Starting to wonder if the aspect of my house could have been the source of the problem. The door would have been getting all the suns heat from first thing in the morning and then complete shade from the afternoon onwards. I may have to consider going back to a wood door.

Thanks for the replies.

Dark PVC products suffer from warping when they heat up, but is prevented when they are steel reinforced throughout and pressure equalised also.
I live in an estate that is fitted with windows that are green outside and white inside and all windows that get direct sunlight are all warped because they are not reinforced.
Typical of that company from cork that i read so much bad press about!

same problem.im in a rented house.pvc doors only 6months old.first they wouldnt lock .had to use force to push handle up to lock the doors.got that sorted out and only a few days ago when the w3eather was sunny i couldnt close the door.i had to slam it closed.but come evening time, there was no problem.
