Hi,

My duplex didn't have an open fireplace.

Is it possible to get one built? i have first and second floor which includes roof area.

thanks

I presume there is a ground floor unit below you? If this is the case, I doubt it very much without it being prohibitively expensive. Syd or some of the experts will advice better than I can, but the weight of the stack would need to be supported/ transferred down to foundation level. Could the existing foudations could take that weight? What would need to be done in the ground floor unit to support the weight above?

Yeah, there's a two bed apartment underneath me and a two bed house to the right of my sitting room, which only comes up to the first floor....i.e. beside my living area.

Ah well, will probably have to get a hang on the wall fire so.

Thanks for the replies
