Purchasing online - Rights?

Recently purchased several kitchen appliances items online from UK website. Had a couple of issues only discovered 2 weeks after receiving the goods. Mainly because we had the goods for 2 weeks before they were fitted.

Retailer wanted nothing to do with the issues as they explicitly state on their website we have to notify them within 7 days of receiving the goods of any issues and hung up on me (twice!) which I found awful.

We got the items repaired through contacting the manufacturers afterwards but just wondering if we didnt could we have a legal way to go through the retailer to get sorted.

I see two possible problems.

First, it can be reasonable for a supplier to apply a seven day limit for discovering and reporting a fault if that fault could be identified by inspection. A fault that emerges later is another matter.

Second, whatever your fundamental rights, it might be disproportionately difficult to vindicate them. You might have to pursue any claim through a British court.
