Hi,

If there's polystirene board insulation in wall cavities can bead insulation be pumped in and is there any point in doing it?

Thanks,
B

yes for a cavity of 100mm should have at least 65mm insulation boars, you can fill cavity with the beads but i wouldnt recommend it as may lead to damp

Was reading this

It seems to suggest damp etc. is not caused by pumping this stuff in - has anyone any experience that differs with that?

and if you believe that......check an ealier post this week about this very issue. Generally accepted that it is not recommended.

Had that job done about two years ago. Made a huge difference in the temp of the house and cut down the heating bill. It was worth doing for me, but then the house is a bungalow on an elevated site.

I would say that it depends on the type of house you are trying to insulate.

If it's not generally not recommened then why do the IAB have a list of approved installers?

This is the previous thread mentioned above.

There are also plenty of other threads on the same subject.

I understand that if you ring SEI they will get one of their advisers to call you back and discuss your options with you.
