hi there i have some land and i have it leased over 5 years but i have no public liability insurance on it. who does this insurance and do i need it and how much would it cost for about 50 acres

you should have it insured. It is not clear if you are the owner and leasing out, or if you are the person leasing.

Both could be deemed to be 'occupier' under occupiers liability act. If you are owner, then for the sake of a €100/200 per annum, you are running the risk of losing the place in the event of a successful claim against you. if you are the person leasing, then you are at risk of losing all you possess in the event of a successful claim against you.

It might be no harm to also take ou Employers Liability insurance as well, lest any employee or person assisting you in a task was injured, deemed to be an employee and sued you.
