PTSB to end Free Banking for New Customers - Short Window left for Existing Free Product

Charlie Weston in the Indo has an article about PTSB ending free banking. The article is here.

PTSB are ending free banking for new customers this autumn. PTSB currently offer free day-to-day banking provided that you deposit at least 1,500 EUR per month into the account.

However, existing customers, before the new rules come in, won't be affected.

Hence, people have a very short window to open a new account before the new rules come in and get free banking.

For those still paying banking fees elsewhere, it is worth taking advantage of this window.

I hope this makes many people jump ship from BOI,AIB etc. and get in before it's too late but sadly the majority will stay put and do nothing.

Hi, I have two questions about this PTSB account -

Does this account let you tap the debit card to make contactless payments?

Also, I read the fees list and to me it looks like you have to pay a fee for each direct debit / standing order for the "free" account?

Yes you can make contactless payments for items up to €15.
There is no fee for each direct debit /standing order.
