PTSB Mortgage - documents to be signed after final payment

My father and I are joint holders of a mortgage with PTSB. I expect to have the mortgage paid off in the next few months.

My question relates to the processes following the final payment. My father is confined to a nursing home and I am concerned that PTSB will insist that he signs any douments required in person.

I intend to ask PTSB this question but before I do, I would like to know what they are likely to say.

You don't need to do anything at all if you don't want to. They may contact you about taking up the title deeds. To do so generally they require your signed authority. However if you have no need to hold the deeds, unless you are selling or remortgaging, then just don't do anything. They will continue to hold the deeds and you can take them up in the future whenever you need them.
