i just got a psp in the usa and the umd games that i baught over here will not work in it is thier any way to change this please help!

Games should work, movies bought here won't. It may be the PSP OS Software version you are running V2.6 is the latest. Though V1.5 and earlier is supposedly totally region free, etc.

I'm getting some UK/Ireland games for my USA PSP (1001) this week to confirm it all works.

Yep, UK psp game works fine in USA psp running OS version 2.6.

It's not the most simple of processes, however the below link contains a good guide and links to some free utilities to help you do it.

Alternatively you can buy a program to help you do it. You also need a larger memory stick than the basic one.
