I've recently started contracting and have been getting paid into my father's limited company. I'll be taking maternity leave in August and am putting together my claim for the dept. of social & family affairs. I know my father's accountant should be able to sort out my PRSI for me but I would hope to just have to meet him once and do all my tax and PRSI for the year at one time. However, in the meantime, I'd imagine Dept. family affairs are going to look for some record of me having paid PRSI at class S. I've contacted Revenue and Social Wefare to find out how much I should pay and to whom, they both told me to try the other. Could anyone offer me any advice please?

You say you've started contracting recently, so I assume you mean in 2005. Being class S, your PRSI will not have to be paid until October 2006 at the latest when you submit your tax return.

Roughly what you'll pay is 5% if your profit is over €20,800 or 3% if less than €20,800.

Deatils of PRSI payments for other years should be with SW.
