i have just realise i have been paying a1 rather than a2 since july of last year when i got a medical card my question is am i entitled to a refund and if so how do i claim it

As there is no difference in the amount of PRSI payable at A1 and A2 it is unlikely there would be any refund. There could however be a refund of Health contribution 2% for those on medical cards

Don't want to hijack but is it possible to ever get a prsi refund I was told it's very hard to get

I got a PRSI refund in respect of some "standalone" PRSA contributions a while back and it wasn't much hassle. It too a while but I suspect that this was because it was at the very beginning of the scheme whereby off payroll/standalone PRSA contributions benefited from tax AND PRSI relief so I think they were only getting to grips with the process themselves.

I applied in January of this year and didn't receive my cheque from Revenue until a few weeks ago so they are still pretty slow.

If I had medical card I would be exempt from 2% health levy. Does this also apply if I have the GP card?
