Thanks to AAM I have just received a cheque for €600 ish by way of refunds of PRSI based on my private pension contributions (not paid through work) for the last number of years. Had it not been for AAM I would have assumed that I had received all I was due by way of credits due re tax(which I consider to include my PRSI).
So firstly thanks AAMers and secondly and the real point of this thread is to say to all other AAmers to make sure they apply for their PRSI refunds . I applied for all refunds going back to 2003when this was introduced(even though I assumed I could only go back 4 years like tax. Im not actually sure if I got anything for 03 and 04 as they dont issue a breakdown( and it hurts my wee brain to try to calculate ) If you search AAM you will find an earlier thread showing how to apply for the PRSI refund
Also if you are on PAYE like me and your pension is index linked then make sure that your Cert of tax credits is accurate as if you dont tell the Revenue that your pension contributions have increased they will simply include the old smaller contribution figure and you will be missing out on tax relief.
I know all of the above may seem very basic to most of the financially astute AAMers but there must be a few more like me out there!
