PRSI Query

Hi folks,
I have recently become self employed (sole trader). As yet my new business is not in profit, and as such as yet I have no tax liability. If I have no tax liability and therefore have no requirement to pay PRSI as a result, how can I maintain my "Stamps" ?

Any info gratefully received

You may still be liable to the minimum prsi even though you have no tax liability. If not you could make a voluntary prsi contribution to social welfare. Engage the advice of an accountant to keep you right.

I don't think you come within the voluntary system. I think you have to pay the minimum of €254 per annum. When you file your income tax return, even though you have zero income for income tax purposes you should get a Notice of Assessment for the €254.
