Hi

If I have a number of years payments to PRSI at the full rate, prior to taking on a full time role in the Public Service and now paying a reduced rate PRSI. Does anyone know how many years I would have had to be paying the full rate to qulalify for the pension at retirement age and could I take up a part time job to make up the shortfall?

Don't know the answer but there's a detailed description of the rules here. If that doesn't answer your query, you can ring Social Welfare on 1890 500000.
