Prsi credits for parental leave and maternity leave

I have my contribution statement and am trying to work out if I'm entitled to any extra credits.
I paid Class D for over 10 years, but am now on Class A.
I had 2 maternity leaves while paying Class D, so I wasn't receiving maternity benefit from social welfare. I took 4 weeks unpaid maternity leave after the paid maternity leave. Are credits available for unpaid maternity leave while paying Class D?
I also took a small.amount of parental leave while paying Class A, should that earn credits?
From reading AAM, I understand I'll get pre entry credits and change of status credits - but they aren't awarded until I claim my contributory pension.
As I won't be claiming my contributory pension until 2032, it'll mainly be based on number of contributions, so I'll try to find a few more if I can!

Yes. Apply under both the Home Carer's Scheme and the Homemaker's Scheme. ( One scheme is used in the TCA, the other in the YAM, I can't remember which is which.)

What happens to my social insurance contributions?​

You can get credited PRSI contributions while you are taking parental leave. Credited PRSI contributions can protect your social insurance record and your entitlement to benefits in the future. Your employer must write to the Client Eligibility Services section of Department of Social Protection (DSP), setting out the weeks you have not worked, so that you can get credited PRSI contributions for this time.

They are all going back a long time (over 20 years). Hopefully I can find enough documentation....

But would the credits during the class D work period be based on class D. Class D credits are not Reckonable for the Contributory Pension.

If a class D worker ceases employment they can sign on for credits but they only receive class D credits.

They only qualify for Reckonable credits after they take up class A employment.

I did a quick search but I can't find any reference to class D employees claiming Homecarer credits.

Thanks S class. That's what I'd have thought. I seem to have automatically received credits for my 3rd unpaid maternity leave, which was during my A class employment.

@S class @POC I received credits under both schemes and I paid a D rate. It did take a lot of communication with the pension section but I got there in the end.

Did you manage the reach the 30 average ?

Thing is, neither of them are Class D credits. They're either Home Caring Credits or Homemaker Scheme Credits.

Class B,C, or D workers get Reckonable credits while on maternity benefit. There is no mention Homecarer or Homemakers.

"There is a restriction on the value of credits awarded to an insured person whose last employment was insurable at the modified rate of Class B ,C or D rate of contribution, that is the credits awarded are reckonable for Widow/Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner's (Contributory) Pension only. However, this restriction does not apply where there is an entitlement to Jobseeker's Benefit, Illness Benefit or Maternity Benefit whilst payments of these benefits are being made. In these cases the credits awarded are at the full rate during payment."



Are these saying that any class A means all backdated credits are reckonable ?

"Where the insured person has mixed Classes of contributions (for example Classes A and B) then the Class of the last contribution paid will determine the value of credit to be awarded."

"There is no restriction on the value of credits awarded to an insured person who, following a period of insurance at Class B, C or D rate, takes up employment which is insurable at Class A. The credits are reckonable for all benefits irrespective of the duration of the Class A employment."



So if you get one class A contribution you get reckonable Homemaker credits ?
