PRSI and 3 day week query.

Bit of advice needed....

Lost my job last August. Signed on but after two weeks of the dole I got a job working three days a week. This job lasted for 4 months. I paid PRSI and I received the €100 benefit from soical welfare. Since January to mid April I have been on dole. In mid-April I got work for 5 weeks covering someone on sick leave. I went to sign back on today and the woman told me that I have only 12 weeks dole left! I questioned this and she insisted I'd only 12 weeks left. She went on an on about my stamps, the date I first signed on (August) and so on. When I said about the four months I worked (Sept-Jan) she said that that doesn't count! Eventually she looked somethin up on the computer and said oh no you will have 24 weeks actually! I'm so confused bout it all now and a bit worried. How exactly does it work. does the PRSi that i paid at the end of 2009 not count? When will my dole run out and i will have to be means tested. I do hope to have a full-time job sooner rather than later but she just stressed me and want some reassurance.

My figures are rough, because of not knowing exact dates you started and left work.
Also assuming you had full entitlement to 12 months JB: 52 weeks.
Less 2 weeks August 09
worked for 16 weeks of remaining 22 in 2009, meaning JB for 6 weeks.
Jan to mid April 2010 about 15 weeks of JB.
Totals ( 2+6+15) 23 weeks JB received.
52 less 23 would mean about 31 weeks remaining.
Best to ask SW for their figures, then you knoe where you stand.

Geravn, you not adding in days of JB paid while on 3 days week.
My rough calculation:
Entitlement: 312 days.
Less Aug 09: 12
Less 4 months X 3 100 (approx)
Less Jan-mid April 2010 80 (approx)

That would be about 120 days left (20 weeks).
N and C, did she say you have 24 weeks left on benefit? How many days have you actually been paid? Only PRSI paid AFTER 156 days have been claimed count towrds the 13 needed to requalify for benefit so that is why the period Sep-Jan doesn't count towards it.
