hello, im looking for a tax accountant to do a tax return on a rental property......i live in dunboyne and would like someone close by and recommended by someone.........anyone got any suggestions please ?

Ask your local big property developer what his accountant is like. Then ring them and get a quote. Ask who will be dealing with your affairs and what their experience and qualifications are.

Very strange advice.

Doesn't necessarily have to be local as you'll probably only see the guy once a year if at all.

Ask your friends for recommendations. Somebody must have an accountant/tax advisor who they would recommend.

Good luck

Are you simply looking to do your own tax return taking into account the rent you are getting on an investment property?

basically yes.....i just want it done correctly as I dont have a clue myself how to do it.......i thought i would be better off seeing someone local but if it is not neccessary, can anyone recommend an accountant to me ?

I am an accountant specialising in tax with a good deal of property experiance and am in the 'property game' myself.

As regards quotes for Income Tax returns, they would of course vary depending on the complexity of the individual's own affairs e.g. the tax return of an individual who had say PAYE income and one rental propety would of course require less work than the tax return of an individual with a large property portfolio and would therefore be less expensive.

A typical accountancy fee for an individual's tax return could be anything from €500 upwards. As a general rule of thumb, larger, more prestegious accountancy firms will generally charge higher fees.

If you have any further questions or need any help preparing the return let me know.

You should note that any fee paid to an accountant is a deductible expense for the purposes of calculating the total taxable rental income.
