Proof of Postage

I'm posting my CGT cheque to the Revenue tomorrow. Is there any way of getting proof of postage since it'll be going freepost or is there any way I can pay online at this stage?

If you haven't already applied for access through ROS it's unlikely you'll have everything in place on time to pay it online.

You can go to the post office and pay for registered post if you're concerned about proof of postage, I don't think there's any such thing as proof of postage for freepost items?

I think there is! Just bring it to the counter in the PO hand it in and say that you require proof of postage. They stamp a docket and give it to you. At least they did for me when sending back my 'final' dvd to Screenclick...
Freepost is not a fee free service by An Post. The receiver pays for the service.
