proof of cash funds

We are hoping to buy a house shortly . We are cash buyers . Whilst have not been asked so far we are expecting to be asked for proof of funds. We have been saving for years/inheritance/ proceeds from sale of property several years ago , so cash is split over quite a few accounts. ....not sure I am that keen on giving reams of statements which will add up to more than the sale price to an estate agent ..would a letter from a solicitor declaring that there is sufficient funds to cover sale price of x based on his examination of statements and bank online print out suffice. Does anyone have any recent experience of this? Thanks

Can you combine a number of bank statements to show proof of funds or withdraw funds to get you to where ever you need to be on those statements or balance printouts, you are dead right not to disclose anymore than necessary, proof of funds is common in the U.S., not that common over here maybe that's changing ?

I've been asked for a few of these letters where there is a receiver selling. Generally the client comes in, shows me bank statements, and I then do a letter confirming that I have seen these statements and that there is sufficient funding to purchase.2

We also had to do this recently for a receiver sale. We just moved the required amount into a separate account and produced the statement from this account for the agreed price, less the booking deposit.
