Problems with Eircom webmail abroad

I have a relative visiting South Africa at the moment and he is finding it impossible to access his eircom web mail properly. He can log in but the sessions expire after a short period of time. He finds this problem persists no matter which computer he uses.
Has anyone come across this before?
 
Thanks Dr Moriarty - I tried a search but couldn't find anything with particular reference to accessing it abroad. I have a feeling that the problem is very technical and beyond my IT capabilities. Seems that Eircom is generally problematic though.
