Problem with vent/gas fire/condensation/buying dehumidifier

Hi all. I am having a problem with condensation in just one bedroom. I have had an expert come look at it and he had recommended installing a new vent which I will do in the new year. In the meanwhile, I would be very grateful if someone could recommend a good dehumidifer that would tide me over - something in a reasonable budget but that works.

Btw, I installed an enclosed hole in the wall gasfire in the sitting room directly below the bedroom concerned - For some reason this has exaberated the problem of condensation. If anyone could shed light on this, it would be great.

woodie can you ask this question another way please. is the newly drilled hole, allowing more heated air into the cavity?

Sorry for late reply - I only saw your post now.

I don't understand your reply. The gas fire is in the sitting room, which has a vent and I don't have any problem with condensation there.

The problem is in the bedroom overhead. I have been advised to install a vent in this bedroom to eleviate the condensation problem which I think is being created as a result of the gas fire underneath.

I hope this makes sense and I appreciate any advice you could give.

Many thanks
