Problem with Mouse!

After I recently reconnected the mouse to my desktop it has behaved funny. I can get into the internet and double-click on icons to enter websites but when I want to type anything or use the back space key it doesn't register or allow me do so!
Help!

Did you accidentally disconnect the keyboard when connecting the mouse? Can you type in MS Word or notepad for example?

When you say reconnected - why was it disconnected. Is it the same mouse or a replacement ? Wired or wireless ? USB ?
