Problem connecting to e- mail

Just wondering if any one can help me with this problem,when i click on my outlook express icon probably 8 time's out i can't connect,and get the following message pop up, "a time out occured while communicating with the server" up until about i week ago i had no problem making this connection, anyone any idea what the problem might be.
 
Have you scanned your PC in case some sort of virus/malware got installed and might be causing this problem? Not saying that this is likely to be the problem but it's worth ruling out. See the "clean PC" thread pinned at the top of this forum.
 
First of all check your servers tab by going to Tools, Accounts, and see if any of the settings have been changed - for example if you have an Eircom email, your settings would be POP3, and the settings in incoming and outcoming boxes should both be mail1.eircom.net

Try setting up the account again from scratch, or go to your email provider's website and follow their instructions for setting up OE. Hope this helps.
