Hi guys hope someone can help me, I changed the break bulbs in my 06 ford focus the other day but while I was driving the car today I noticed that every time I applied the breaks the front side lights come on and then turn off when I release the break.

Is this a major issue or is it the case of a fuse or relay that would be easy to change or is it a problem that will cost me a few bob.

sounds like you fitted the wong type of bulb or fitted it incorrectly.
What lights are comming on when braking? your parking lights I hope?

Normally the brake lights are 2 filament one for break and one for side rear lights.

Sounds like the bulb is installed incorrectly and short the 2 separate contacts in the bulb holder.

Only a guess.
Take out the brake lights one at a time and test.
You should be able to see the 2 separate contacts in the bulb holder.

Hope this helps.

+1 to the two suggestions above.

More than likely you have fitted a single filament lamp to a double terminal holder or maybe fitted the correct lamp incorrectly.

I would reckon the former.

Cheers for the feedback lads sorted it today had double filament in one side and single filament in the other side, thank god it was something that simple.
