I have begun a personal application for probate as sole executor for a deceased relative. Fairly tidy situation but now I find beneficiaries who reside in UK must apply to DSFA for PPS numbers here even tho they have never been, nor will ever be, resident here. Does anyone have similar knowledge/experience? Wondering if this means tax will be payable here by them before inheriting if they are over the given thresholds.

Yes this is standard. If there is CAT due then the executor has a secondary responsibility to ensure it is paid so normally would pay it before giving the balance to the beneficiary.

Thanks, Vanilla - I had thought the onus is on them to pay tax on gifts rec'd in their own tax area. Getting slightly more complicated but still finding it all an interesting experience..!! B
