probate completed, tax refund discovered

Hi all.

We had the probate completed on a relatives estate and the solicitor completed the probate, inland revenue and got the grant of administration.

I recently discovered in reviewing the papers that there was a tax refund PAYE of about 1400 euro that was never claimed or included in the probate papers.

Question. Is it now going to be necessary to amend the inland revenue affidavit and the grant or can it be claimed with the existing grant?

Did you ask your solicitor?

I sacked him for his oversight. I wish to continue on my own.

Ask Probate office ?

Maybe you should have asked your solicitor before you sacked him!

Have you received the money from the revenue? If not write to them to ask for it. Strictly speaking you should file a corrective affidavit with the revenue. You can get this on their web site.

I have not filed a request for the money. Thanks for the advice.
