Private sector workers now seeking public sector benefits

Private-sector employed Community Employment supervisors are now seeking superannuation benefits in line with the public sector. They provide a service to the public sector and are demanding the same benefits; they're on strike today so have closed down the service to all CE scheme workers.

Are any of the political parties talking about dealing with this sort of behaviour?

of course it was going to happen the main political parties are to blame full stop,

A Government that refuses to implement a Labour Court recommendation is beyond belief given that such Court is part of the State's industrial relations machinery process,.
Just get on with it.

But it's perfectly okay for unions to reject a labour Court recommendation, right?

They're looking for retrospective entitlements without even making the one-third contribution PS workers make.

Where is the money supposed to come from for this? Like all publicly-funded pay demands, they want a permanent entitlement based upon temporary exchequer receipts.

As stated, this precedent would "open the flood gates" for similar demands. I provide a private-sector service to people wholly dependent on state-services - it probably helps the mental health of the recipients so saves the state money on medication and/or mental health services. This means I should be looking to be superannuated too.

If you check lots of TDs From FF/FG/LAB already an record supporting the workers, hard to expect the unions to ignore FF/FG/LAB support for these workers and expect a Union to take up a position against there own membership,

Yep, and all the TD's from the far left. So, we have a choice of the far left or the centre left. It's one or the other. It's binary. There's no third option. No other choice other than abdicating your responsibility as a citizen. Get it yet?
