Price of visa swipe machines

Hi
In the family restaurant at home they have two
Visa swipe machines, each costing @80 euros a month to rent from Visa. The restaurant is closed 4.5 months of the year over winter.

Could they not pay for the swipe machines during the closed months ?
Is there ways of reducing these costs?

You could close the merchant accounts and then reopen them when needed?

Actually it's 80 for the two terminals per month, I had wrong information.

If the account was closed with the merchant during the winter months would it cost a lot to reopen them again in April ?

Nope. Maybe they may finally negotiate with you if you threaten to close down the accounts.
