Price of Goods/Food in Northern Ireland v Ireland

An AAM member noticed I was in Northern Ireland from a previous post, and PM'd me to ask about the price of a couple of products here to see how the price compares.

If anyone else is interested, I don't live too far from a Sainsburys store, so if you want to see how the price of something here (in N.I.) compares to what you pay for it, just post in this thread...

the name and size of the food item
the price you pay for it
the store you purchased it in

and when I'm in the store next time I'll note the price and post it here!

What a nice offer! Watch out though you might be inundated with requests. For those who have access to it, the Journal insert in the Irish Farmers Journal did a number of comparison tables of prices in the South v's prices in Tesco and Dunnes up north in the edition out today. It did show that it pays to shop around even up north.

Thanks hansov!

Yep, slightly worried ...but we'll see what happens...!

Got a tin of cadburys roses today in Castleblayney for €8.99 1.5kg tin, thats cheaper than any of the 'bigger' shops in dundalk. and suspect cheaper than Sainsburys.

Over the last few weeks I've taken note of the great variation in the prices of Cadbury Roses in a number of different outlets in the Republic. The range I've personally seen for the 1.5. kg tin is 9.99 to 12.59.
Well spotted Cuchulainn.

Care to name the shop, cuchulainn? Could go to Castleblayney to buy them.

Centra are selling Roses cheap everywhere. Personally I think it's time to move on to some real chocolate....

can you tell me what the price of a crate of budweiser is in northern ireland ?
24 cans by 500 ML at what price ?
Sainsburys are quoting 10.99 sterling for 20 cans of 300 ML.
What would 24 cans ( 500 ml ) be in your average off licence ?
thanks,
Dave

jas. as it happens ( jimmy saville?) it was centra.

I don't drink, so I wouldn't know.

I checked for the Roses and they don't appear to sell the 1.5kg tins - only the 2.2kg tins which are £8.99

Using todays conversion rate that works out at
€6.04 per kg

Whereas the Centre price mentioned before is
€5.99 per kg

Out of interest what would you pay down south for any of these items. They're just some random groceries off my grocery receipt from Sainsburys.

Just for shops own brand, not expensive brand names...

Greek Style / Natural Yoghurt 500g : £0.49 = ( €0.73 )
Pure Orange Juice/Concentrate 1 litre : £0.38 = ( €0.56 )
Long Life Milk 1 litre : £0.35 = ( €0.52 )
Wholemeal Medium Sliced Bread 800g : £0.43 = ( €0.64 )
Tin of Beans 420g : £0.15 = ( €0.22 )
