Supposing I wanted to sent a press release to all Irish media, newsprint, radio and tv? Is there a free list of emails addresses where press releases can be sent? Does anyone have such a list?

What if I wanted to go further? International? Again anyone have a list?

Alternatively I see that there are websites you can use to have your media release distributed (for a fee). Has anyone used these? Are they an effective way to contact the media? Any recommendations out there?
 
I know for a fact that the advertising managers read it based on the amount of calls you receive after one goes live.
 
Thanks for that, certainly worth a shot for Irish media eh? Funnily enough reading some of those press releases I found the name of a long lost friend! Not lost any more, she returned an email this morning!

How would I find out the appropriate journalist names though? Hence the question for a list? I suppose I could ring every newspaper etc but surely there must be lists available?
Also what if I want my release to go global?

Read today's paper - should be fairly easy to identify the relevant journos.

That's what PR agencies do - but they generally don't release their lists for free.
