I don't think I was building up the job. What I was trying to point out is that the key role and power of the President is to act as a check to the Dail. That power will be even more relevant if the Seanad is scrapped. Hence we should pay close attention to who we elect as President and all the manure about "openess" and being a "President for the people" (whatever that is) should be secondry.
