Hi All,

I am in the process of putting in the lawns at my new house.
We tilled the lawns the other day but the tiller was a bit big and couldn't get round the edges or go to close to the kerbs.
The lawns is now very unlevel. Any ideas how to make the ground level before sowing the grass seeds.

Thanks

A hand rake and a roller.

I only used a rake (couldn't lay my hands on the roller) and as a result have depressions that would make the north atlantic proud.

Some books recommend laying a ladder on the ground, adding some weight, tying a rope to first and last rungs and dragging it over the area. You could adapt that for size maybe use a pallet on a smaller area.
It knocks the high spots off and deposits it into the depressions. But the depressions need to be 'compacted' again before sowing.
Isn't it a little late for sowing a lawn? Might still be growth on lawns but a complete new lawn takes a while to grow enough to survive the winter...
