Prepaid Visa Electron with PIN > 4 digits

Hi,

My girlfriend has a prepaid Visa Electron card issued by the post office in Italy (it's branded as Postepay). She's been using this without issue in Ireland for the past few years and it's generally accepted anywhere that Visa is, including at AIB ATMs for cash withdrawals. Recently, she tried to transfer an amount into her AIB bank account only to find out that the PED terminals in AIB branches only accept the first 4 digits of the PIN while her PIN has more than 4 digits. This means that AIB have no way of handling the card in branch despite being able to dispense cash at the ATM.

The problem now is that the amount she wants to transfer is about 10x the daily cash withdrawal amount. Obviously, 10 trips to the ATM over 10 days is cumbersome to say the least.

One solution we came up with was to use the Visa to purchase a postal order from An Post and then lodge that to the AIB account. Then we found out that An Post (at least my local branch) don't take Visa.

Does anyone know of any Irish bank/institution that can move money from a prepaid visa electron with a PIN > 4 digits to an AIB account? The transfer might be either electronic or by way of selling a bank draft which we then manually lodge.

Thanks,
Phil

Is there a PIN change facility so she can change it to the usual 4 digit PIN?

Thanks but no, we thought of that. It's set by the Post Office back in Italy.
